I often find myself struggling to concentrate on study time for my MCSE, however today I thought of a really good way to get focused using a feature in Windows Vista and Windows 7: Presentation Mode.

Designed for people using their laptops to give presentations and block out unwanted notifications, it also serves as a useful concentration tool.

Click on the projector icon reveals the information and settings for Presentation Mode:

As you can see, when Presentation Mode is enabled, it turns off notifications. This applies to Outlook email notifications and Windows Live Messenger alert notifications, and although it’s not mentioned, it sets your messenger status to Busy.
